309/309S stainless steel strip contains high chromium and nickel. It is highly corrosion resistant, outstanding resistance to oxidation, and excellent heat resistance. At the same time, they can be roll formed, stamped and drawn readily. It is widely applied in high temperature containers.
309/309S Stainless Steel Grade:
Heat uniformly at 1742 – 2192°F (950 – 1200°C). After hot forming a final anneal at 1832 – 2101°F (1000 – 1150°C) followed by rapid quenching is recommended.
309/309S Stainless Steel Grade:
Cold forming of pieces with long-term exposure to high temperatures is not recommended since the stainless steel is subject to carbide precipitation.
309/309S Stainless Steel Grade:
It can be welded by most standard processes, including TIG, PLASMA, MIG, SMAW, SAW and FCAW.

Hot rolling is a metalworking process. Such as steel ingots or billets are difficult to deform and process at room temperature, they are generally heated to 1100 to 1250° for rolling, this rolling process is called hot rolling. Most steel materials are rolled by hot rolling, the steel delivered in the hot-rolled state has a certain degree of corrosion resistance due to the high temperature, so it can bestored in the open air. In addition, hot rolling is that it can destroy the casting structure of the ingot, refine the grain of the steel, eliminate structural defects, make the steel structure dense, and improve the hardness of the hot rolled steel.
Cold rolling refers to a rolling process that uses the pressure of rolls to squeeze steel to change the shape of the steel at room temperature. The advantafe of cold rolling is fast forming speed, high output, the coating is not damaged, and it can be made into a variety of cross-sectional forms to meet the needs of the use conditions. In addition, cold rolling can cause large plastic deformation of the steel, thereby increasing the yield point of the steel. Which is Widely used in home appliances and other industries.
What Is The Difference Between 309 And 309S?
Answer:
309S is an extra-low carbon variant of 309. Due to a lower carbon content, that minimizes carbide precipitation and improves weldability.
What Is Stainless Steel?
Answer:
309/309S is one of the stainless steel grade. Grades of steel that contain more than 10 percent chromium — with or without other alloying elements — are called stainless steel.
How Does Chromium Prevent Rusting?
Answer:
309/309S stainless steel contains chromium (22.0 min.-24.0 max). Chromium and other elements react with air and water to form a thin film on the outside of the steel. This film serves as a barrier that prevents corrosion.
