GENERAL INFO ABOUT EACH Stainless Steel Strip GRADE

2205/2507 stainless steel strip is one of the most widely used duplex stainless steel. It contains with chromium and nickel, making it extremely resistant to uniform corrosion by organic acids. The grade can be used in chemical processing, transport, and storage for a variety of industries.

  • Hot Forming
  • Cold Forming
  • Welding

2205/2507 Stainless Steel Grade:

When hot forming is required, the workpiece should be heated uniformly and worked in the range of 1750 to 2250°F. The duplex stainless steel plate is quite soft at these temperatures and is readily formed.

2205/2507 Stainless Steel Grade:

2205/2507 duplex stainless steel plate is readily cold formed on equipment suited to working stainless steels. However, because of the high strength and rapid work hardening of the grade, forces substantially higher than those for austenitic steels are required to cold form it.

2205/2507 Stainless Steel Grade:

It possesses good weldability.

MORE DETAILS ABOUT EACH Stainless Steel Strip PROCESS

  • Hot Rolled
  • Cold Rolled

Hot rolling is a metalworking process. Such as steel ingots or billets are difficult to deform and process at room temperature, they are generally heated to 1100 to 1250° for rolling, this rolling process is called hot rolling. Most steel materials are rolled by hot rolling, the steel delivered in the hot-rolled state has a certain degree of corrosion resistance due to the high temperature, so it can bestored in the open air. In addition, hot rolling is that it can destroy the casting structure of the ingot, refine the grain of the steel, eliminate structural defects, make the steel structure dense,  and improve the hardness of the hot rolled steel.

Cold rolling refers to a rolling process that uses the pressure of rolls to squeeze steel to change the shape of the steel at room temperature. The advantafe of cold rolling is fast forming speed, high output, the coating is not damaged, and it can be made into a variety of cross-sectional forms to meet the needs of the use conditions. In addition, cold rolling can cause large plastic deformation of the steel, thereby increasing the yield point of the steel. Which is Widely used in home appliances and other industries.

MORE DETAILS ABOUT EACH Stainless Steel Strip SURFACE

  • NO.1
  • 2D
  • 2B
  • BA
  • HL
  • Mirror
NO.1 surface treated by heat treatment and pickling after hot rolling. The  appearance is silver white, matt and bright. This surface is suitable for industries that require heat resistance and corrosion resistance, and the surface brightness is not important. Common applications include industrial tank and chemical industrial plants etc..
2D surface treated by heat treatment and pickling after cold rolling. The appearance is silver white, smoother but of matt grain. Common applications include petrochemical production equipment, automotive components, building materials and water pipes etc..
After 2D treatment, the final process is lightly cold rolled by a polishing roller to obtain proper gloss. The appearance is smooth and bright, and easy to re-grind to make the surface more brighter.  Common applications include building materials, tableware etc..
BA surface is also produced by cold rolling and de-scaling. It has excellent surface gloss, high reflectivity. In addition, The very smooth surface also makes this surface highly suitable for further finishing processes such as mirror polishing and chrome plating. Common applications include catering equipment etc..
HL use a polishing abrasive belt with an appropriate particle size (150-320 mesh) to grind, with obvious straight stripes. The surface is beautiful, good texture and scratch is not obvious, durable,  wear-resistant. Common applications include building decoratio, elevators, vehicle parts, etc..
Mirror is produced by polishing with successively finer abrasives and buffing extensively until all grit lines from preliminary grinding operations are removed. The feature is highest reflectivity. Mainly used for interior and exterior decoration materials of automobiles and buildings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is 2205 Expensive?
  • What Is Duplex Stainless Steel?
  • Which Industries Will Use Duplex Stainless Steel?

Is 2205 Expensive?

Answer:

904L is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with copper, this grade can resist corrosion from many acids. The high cost of this grade of stainless steel, however, has caused many manufacturers to turn to the lower-cost duplex stainless steel 2205 as an alternative.

 What Is Duplex Stainless Steel?

Answer:

Combining austenitic and ferritic stainless steels equally, duplex stainless steel contain chromium (21-27%), nickel (1.35-8% ), copper (0.05-3%), and molybdenum (0.05-5% ). The combination of elements makes duplex stainless steel stronger than either austenitic or ferritic steel by itself.

Which Industries Will Use Duplex Stainless Steel?

Answer:

Duplex stainless steel often gets used in chemical processing and in crafting storage-tanks and containers that ship chemicals.

  • 2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel

2507 super duplex stainless steel contains 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel are designed for demanding applications which require exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, such as chemical process, petrochemical, and seawater equipment. The steel has excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, high thermal conductivity, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The high chromium, molybdenum, and nickel levels provide excellent resistance to pitting, crevice, and general corrosion.

  • 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel

2205 duplex stainless steel (2205 DSS) is a two-phase, ferritic-austenitic 22% chromium, 5 to 6% nickel, 3% molybdenum alloyed stainless steel. It contains about 40~50% ferrite in the annealed condition. 2205 has been a practical solution to chloride stress corrosion cracking problems experienced with 304/304L or 316/316L stainless. The high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen contents provide corrosion resistance superior to 316/316L and 317L stainless in most environments. The design strength of 2205 is significantly higher than 316/316L, often permitting lighter wall construction.

  • Why Is Duplex Steel Important To Autos?

Duplex Steel is a mixture, obtained by processing ferrite and martensite. The ferrite contains pure iron, contributes ductility, while the martensite creates a high tensile strength, the duplex Steel has the above two characteristics at the same time.
