┃ Overview

UNS N08825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper, and titanium, and provide exceptional resistance to many corrosive environments. The alloy's high nickel content makes it enough to resist chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. The combination of nickel, molybdenum and copper gives it outstanding resistance to reducing environments such as those containing sulfuric and phosphoric acids. The molybdenum also aids resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.  In addition, The titanium addition serves, with an appropriate heat treatment, to stabilize the alloy against sensitization to intergranular corrosion.

┃ Application

Oil and Gas: Pipes, valves, pumps, and heat exchangers where corrosion resistance and high strength are required

Chemical Processing: Sulfuric acid plants, pickling operations, and production of phosphoric acid

Pollution Control: Flue gas desulfurization systems, scrubbers, and exhaust systems

Marine Applications: Offshore platforms, seawater cooling systems, and equipment exposed to saltwater environments

Food Processing:  Food processing equipment, including reactors, agitators, and vessels

Nuclear Power Industry: Reactor components, heat exchangers, and piping systems

┃Corrosion Resistance

Incoloy 825 is distinguished by its corrosion resistance and is particularly suitable for use in sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, sour flue gases, sour gases and oil wells, as well as seawater. In both reducing and oxidize environments, the alloy resists general corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking.

┃ Machining

All standard machining operations are readily performed on Incoloy 825. The alloy normally has optimum the annealed temper.

┃Welding

Incoloy 825 has good weldability by all conventional processes. For most applications, INCONEL® Welding Electrode 112 for shielded metal-arc welding and INCONEL Filler Metal 625 for gas-shielded processes are used. For applications that require highest resistance to corrosion, INCO-WELD® Welding Electrode 686CPT® and INCO-WELD Filler Metal 686CPT are used.
