UNS S32760, W.Nr. 1.4410, F55 Stainless Steel
UNS S32760 is a duplex stainless steel especially designed for service in aggressive chloride-containing environments and has additions of W and Cu compared to UNS S32750. It has very good resistance to localized corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in combination with high mechanical strength. The pitting resistance and yield strength of the S32760 material makes its allowing for leaner design in load bearing applications, widely used in various fields.

UNS S32760 is highly resistant to corrosion by organic acids, such as formic and acetic acid, suitable for use at high concentrations and temperatures, where austenitic stainless steels corrode at a high rate. In certain concentration ranges, its resistance to inorganic acids is comparable to that of high alloy austenitic stainless steels. Compared with other duplex stainless steels of the 25Cr type, the super duplex S32760 offers stronger pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. Also, its has excellent resistance to chloride induced stress corrosion cracking, erosion corrosion and corrosion fatigue.
UNS S32760 can be machined using appropriate techniques and tools. However, it is important to consider that super duplex S32760 stainless steel has higher strength and hardness compared to conventional austenitic stainless steels, which can present challenges during machining.
UNS S32760 possesses good weldability and can been welded by by shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, plasma arc welding, flux cored wire, submerged arc welding, or other standard welding processes. Preheating of super duplex S32760 is not necessary except to prevent condensation on cold metal. When a filler metal is required, consider S32760/P100, because it will produce the appropriate duplex weld structure.
