UNS N06075, Alloy 75, W.Nr. 2.4951, Nimonic® 75
Note that the designation “Nimonic®” is registered trademarks of Special Metals Corporation group of companies.
UNS N06075 is an 80/20 nickel-chromium alloy alloy with controlled additions of titanium and carbon. The alloy known for its high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent mechanical properties, widely used in various fields. Today, it is mostly used for sheet applications calling for oxidation and scaling resistance coupled with medium strength at high operating temperatures. Also,Nimonic 75 is readily fabricated and welded.

Chemical Processing: Heat exchangers, reactors, and catalyst systems that handle corrosive chemicals and high-temperature environments
Aerospace Industry: Gas turbine engines, combustion chambers, afterburners, and other hot sections where the material is exposed to high temperatures, oxidative environments, and mechanical stresses
Nuclear Industry: Reactor core components, fuel elements, and other critical parts that require reliable performance at elevated temperatures and in corrosive environments
Automotive Industry: Exhaust valves, turbocharger components, and other parts subjected to extreme heat and corrosive conditions
Petrochemical Industry: Valves, fittings, and heat exchangers
Nimonic 75 is known for its excellent corrosion resistance in various environments. For example, Alloy 75 exhibits excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It forms a protective oxide layer on the surface, which helps prevent further oxidation and degradation of the material. This makes it suitable for applications in high-temperature environments, such as gas turbines and aerospace components.
Nimonic 75 can be machined, but it is known to have poor machinability compared to some other alloys. The alloy is a high-strength nickel-chromium alloy with excellent high-temperature properties, which can make it challenging to machine. During machining, special attention needs to be paid to tool selection, cutting speed and feed rate, coolant and lubrication, rigidity and stability, post-Machining treatments etc,.
Nimonic 75 can be welded by the MMA, TIG, MIG and submerged-arc processes, and should be in the annealed condition before welding although a small amount of cold work is tolerable. The amount of permissible cold work varies with the component design but simple bending and rolling operations need not involve reannealing prior to welding. The affected zone produced in Alloy 75 does not introduce weld decay and post-weld heattreatment is not, normally, necessary. If equipment is required for service in contact with caustic soda, fluosilicates, or some mercury salts, a stress-relieving treatment could be desirable.
